Keum Boo one day workshop
When: Saturday 29th March, 2025
Where: Nottingham Jewellery School, Block D, Hartley Business Centre, Haydn Road, NG5 1DG (next to Robin Hood Gymnastics).
Join me for a day exploring how to use the technique of Keum Boo to add a touch of gold to your silver jewellery designs.
The day will run from 10 – 4, starting with an introduction and demonstration of the Keum Boo technique of bonding 24ct gold foil to silver. There will then be a choice of three different projects to create your own piece of jewellery, with instruction sheets for you to work from, and I will be there to guide you along the way. The projects include using a variety of techniques to add texture and oxidisation to your work. If you are more experienced, you can use these projects as a starting point, do your own design or just enjoy spending the day making samples and test pieces. We all know the value of ‘play’ time when it comes to creativity!
I will provide you with a piece of fine silver (3cmx4cm) and a piece of 24ct gold foil (3.5cm x 2.5cm), one trace chain and earring findings for you to make at least one piece of finished jewellery.
This workshop is not suitable for beginners. You need to have some prior experience of making silver jewellery.
The focus of this workshop is about bonding 24ct gold to fine silver. If you would also like to learn how to bond the gold to sterling silver, please feel free to bring along a piece of sterling silver (there are options to buy some on the day) and I can also demonstrate this dependant on time. There is plenty to think about when using both types of silver which I will go into more detail about on the day.
Tea and coffee are provided but please bring a packed lunch on the day.
The price of the workshop is £165
